What is the ALC?
Made up of agents in the top 20% of each market center, the ALC is the voice for all the agents and functions like a ‘board of directors’. This ‘board of directors’ is actively involved in the leadership decisions that make the office more productive and profitable. Their roles are to inspire, motivate, participate and listen.
By having input from these associates, each market center can tailor their strategies to thrive in all stages of the market. The main purpose of this council is to hold management and ownership accountable in running the market center and allowing associates to have a say in how the office is run. A truly empowering feature that treats agents the same as the owners, which teaches them leadership skills they can apply in their own businesses.
A covenant agreement of ALC responsibilities is entered into by all ALC members with their market center peers.
Keller Williams ALC Meetings – What Happens?
The ALC is actively involved in the leadership of the company, holding ownership and management accountable to live within the budget and participates in attaining the goals of the market center, i.e., production, drive profit, education and standards and principles. This is NOT a sales meeting nor is it a complaint session.
ALC meetings take place on a monthly basis and are open for all agents in the office to attend and observe. Only the ALC members get to participate in the discussion. If agents in the market center have advice, suggestions or questions, they are encouraged to submit these to their assigned ALC member prior to the meetings so they can be addressed on the agenda. The following criteria is discussed at each meeting:
- Develop policies and guidelines for the office (market center)
- Review and approve the financials
- Set standards in the market center
- Resolve any problems that have arisen
- Mastermind strategies to support and grow the current office business plan
- Be protectors of the company culture
What are the responsibilities of the ALC members?
The ALC acts as the market center’s “Board of Directors”. They are the guardians of the culture.
Another role of the agent leadership council is to be of assistance to associates in the office. New agents have lots of questions and who better to answer them than the agents who have been there and know how to handle certain situations. Also, since these ALC members sell real estate actively, they often allow newer agents to shadow them and learn from the pros. The ALC members are also required to teach in the market center and they attend the annual KW convention (Family Reunion).
Unlike traditional real estate companies, where blanketed decisions are made from a corporate office that apply to every one of their offices nationwide, at Keller Williams Realty, our associates have “input” into the policies of the company. Each and every Keller Williams market center has an ALC. It is a truly active program for allowing agents to participate in the policies of the company.
There is also an agent leadership council for each region of Keller Williams Realty as well as one for the entire company.
The future leaders of Keller Williams are not even in the real estate business yet. You might be the next Keller Williams ALC member at your market center. Contact us today to get started with the #1 real estate company in the world!
